There is a bicycle messenger in Vancouver, BC who uses a voice pager to take orders from clients. Clients leave a message on a voicemail and that message is broadcasted to his pager. It sounds like a pretty good way to receive orders, there is no trying to ride down the street talking on a cell phone. What is this technology? It sounds pretty reliable. Does anyone know of anyone who offers this service? |

Voice Paging systems have been in use for many years. We still work on Motorola Keynote pagers for a local hospital, mill and besides all the fire departments that use Minitor series pagers. Apollo makes a voice pager that closely resembles the Keynote. Google any of these and you should find a load of information. |

One of the hospitals here in Portland used a voice pager for in-house paging for doctors for the longest time. I was told that the system was supposed to be engineered to only cover the campus, but the coverage was in reality much bigger and you could get a page from the other side of the highway. I remember they looked like a portable version of a small RadioShack intercom. |
