Does anyone have one have a Pro Comm Spider scanner antenna? If so, are they any good?

Here is a nice page put together with antenna reviews. That specific antenna is not listed, but you may still find this page useful.

I'm running a few at home:

Larsen VHF/UHF mobile antenna mounted on a VHF groundplane mount thats on a mast about 6 feet above roof level.

Maxrad mobile scanner antenna mounted on a UHF groundplane mount in the attic.

Maxrad mobile trilinear 800mhz antenna mounted on a 800mhz groundplane mount in the attic.

At one point in time I ran a discone 80 feet up a tree with LMR400 coax. Kicked ass on VHF but a roof-level yagi performed much better at 800mhz. There is something to be said for gain vs. antenna height & coax loss especially at higher frequencies.
