Every so often someone finds the time to deposit a turd in the inbox. Here is the latest (and a response):

RON WALLER n7sij@yahoo.com wrote:

Dear Ron,

Intercept NW has more (regional) data, and quantitatively more accurate data, than any other site covering the area. Any site that claims otherwise has plagarized information from Intercept NW so their credibility is nil.

Intercept NW was the first site to offer a large-scale frequency database which included data such as PL tones, trunk systems, and trunk talkgroups. Many sites have followed in these footsteps as well.

It is also a non-profit site which means the hosting, programming, and work put into the content is for the promotion of the hobby, not the promotion of the webmasters pocketbook via splashing ads on your screen. The data is "owned" collectively by the contributors. Other large radio sites are full of legalisms claiming they own all the contributed data so they can resell it on CD.

And as with any site, it is at the mercy of those who contribute to it and when they are able to contribute. Likewise some data may be new, some may be old, and some might not change often and therefore does not need to be updated often.

I find it amusing that you characterize our site as "garbage".

Perhaps you can share with us your efforts and contributions to the hobby. Hopefully nobody will call it "garbage"...

Since many people have contributed to the site, I'll be sharing your letter on our forums so others may comment on your heartfelt feelings for our site.

Dear Mr. Waller

You are an idiot. Go away and don't come back.

Sincerely,
A garbage collector and contributor to Intercept NW

Wow!
Why not try to contribute? If you see something wrong correct it. I have used and contributed information on this site for years.
There is a wealth of knowledgeable people here that at times have way to much time on their hands.

Thanks for the great site!

I am also a amateur radio operator, you can't judge us all based on a few.

OK I'm a ham. There are very few hobbies with such a diverse and strange membership. Maybe I should go to a gun show.

Wow Rich, you were a lot nicer than I would have been.....

I'm sure if that guy would have posted, he would have used :bsflag: a lot. Little does he know, this is a :nobs: forum.

Was he that bored that he had to defame a site that he doesn't contribute to?

If you're not going to contribute, but simply knock on our door and be an ass, have you nothing better to do with your time? I can think of a thousand better things to do.

But I know I know, we're all :horse: . I'll shut up now...

Maybe he's tuning into the now silent V/UHF patches to the trunks and expecting to hear traffic?

And what I don't get is why people send mail like this. If you don't like a website, just close it. Maybe this is just me, but I was always under the impression that finding an e-mail address or comment box requires more effort than simultaneously pressing the "control" and "w" keys.

They are also the people that snow drive just under the momentum speed for the conditions so that some of the long line of traffic behind them end up in the ditch. The people that drive 60 in the hov lanes and won't move to the right because they are driving 'legal'.

Just to make this a legal post. I remember in the old days doing the10.8 X 2 - 21.6 meg up or down on many scanners, but I thought all the current generation of scanners didn't have the issue as much. 460.5 (MARS) on my Uniden 780 (mobile 17" whip) picks up security for a club in downtown area, all over town. So much so that I have to keep it locked out. I have loads of other UHF with no issues??

Have you tried listening on another radio?

I ask because, in the past, I have seen 25 - 40 watt transmitters (Columbia Tow comes to mind) "walk" all over the spectrum.

They laughed at us when we informed them of the interference they were causing to the input of 443.550. They quit laughing when the FCC showed them HAMS are much nicer than the FCC.

Particularly due to the fact they were hopping further up the band into SPD's old UHF systems (and many others).

The Field engineer "suggested" they take us up on our offer to clean up their install.

The final culprit?
an UN-soldered (both center lead and shield) PL-259 connector where the feedline connected to the back of the little mobile doo-hickey they used as their "base".

That was it.
Soldered that baby and problem was SOLVED.

So it could be an image as you suggest - or it could be a crappy install.

Have you figured out which club it is?

The N7SIJ site is hella L33t, tons of 0-day freqz. Drop 40 bones into my PayPal and I'll hook you up with a login and pass. All of you ham lamers are just haters.

*YAWN*

Apparently Mr. Waller of Mount Vernon is privy to information beyond us, if only he would share. We can't all be in the know.

Thank you Rich, thank you everyone.
