Hello, Does anyone have a DC power cable for the pro-2055. Or one that is compatible. I already have a wire for my 2066 that is in the car, buuut Radio Shack decided to change the plug size on the end of the wire. So really I would only need the end that plugs into the scanner. Does anyone know what the correct name for that plug is and what size it is? Then I could just get the plug and attach it to the wire that is already there. I have looked high and low for the par number on the DC fused wire but I can't find it anywhere. I am in the Auburn area if it matters. Thanks in advance. |

RatShack has all the appropriate connectors, set up to mate with their power supplies. They usually have a a "test bundle" of ten-inch wires hanging off a shelf, with an example of each connector included so you can get it right the first time. Even if you don't buy their stuff, you can go from the connector "color" to the size specs on the packaging. Flash |

Radio Shack does not carry the correct connectors anymore for the PRO-2055   The correct part is the 273-1723 (T) Adaptaplug. The 273-1721 (R) Adaptaplug will work if you can find it. Both are not carried at R/S anymore :puke: Thank you R/S for your stupidity  |

I would assume that it's the same connector as the one on the Pro-97, in which case I use a DC adapter for a Uniden cordless phone. It happened to be the correct voltage and polarity, and I think it beats the amperage by a few hundred mA. Not all chargers are the same; I have model AD-314 and it works fine. You might check other adapters you have laying around the house; I found the hardest part was finding one that fit. |

The PRO-2055 takes a different size connector than the PRO-97. The PRO-97 takes a 273-1706 (C) Adaptaplug. R/S still stocks that part... Get um before they discontinue it too :D |

That's what I get for assuming RS did something that made sense. But don't leave out the option of stray adapters laying around your house. Adaptaplug C: $6.59, 9VDC/300mA AC Adapter: $15.99. Total, including governor's salary surcharge: $24.61. I paid $10.45 with shipping on eBay for this Uniden phone adapter. Then again, I buy most of my stuff on eBay. |

Thanks for all your help every one. I atleast know what I am looking for now, lol. After reading replies I was thinking I may have to just cut the plug off the end of my AC power transformer. But I managed to find this, Adaptaplug "T" 6.5mm O.D x 4.3mm with 1.4mm pin 273-1723 connector. According to the Radio Shack site and the part number it is the right connector. But what concerns me is the fact that the tip is yellow. The one I have now is black. But I am hoping it just came black because it is attached to the plug and is not an adaptaplug. I guess I will get the micrometer out and measure things to see how they compare. Those measurements do sound about right though. Oh one more thing I was pondering. The pro2096 looks very similar to the 2055 I am wondering if they use the same size jack on the back of the scanner? If so it would be alot easier to find something for the pro2096 since it isn't discontinued. |
