Radio Shack has their versions of the GRE P25 scanners on their site today. $499.99 ea. None show up in stock in local stores yet but in stock on line. |

PRO-106 handheld scanner ![]() ![]()
PRO-197 ![]() All of the specs are identical as to what's listed for the 106. It actually makes sense to have a DIN sleeve for a desktop scanner. Looks like the RS webmaster copied/pasted from the 197. Again, 4 cents cheaper at ScannerMaster which also throws in the AC adapter and USB cable. |

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0269603167 Date code of 08A08, so this thing was manufactured in August of this year. The seller has other sealed electronics; makes me wonder if they're legit. There was a thread a while back about 4 PSR-500s that got stolen at the port; since you can't find them in stores yet, I wonder if this one was in the same "boat" :D Another one just ended with Buy it Now. |

Is this a repackaged PSR-500 or a new GRE radio? |

They are the R/S versions of the GRE PSR-500 & PSR-600. They can be programmed with the Win500 software as per the Starrsoft site. |

Can anyone who has the GRE version of these units (PSR-500 & PSR-600) tell us how well they perform compared to the Uniden units when used to monitor trunked systems? I have heard a couple of comments saying that the GRE units were "very hot" and subject to overloading. I would think that this would make the Nextel/cell tower interference with trunked systems issue much worse. I am still not at all satisfied with my mobile reception of trunked systems using any of the Uniden products and am hoping the the GRE/RS units will perform better. Am I dreaming? :D |
