If I am going to ever do something that um....extreme, I think it would be handy to have a small sound mixer board to select audio sources:) |

My wife used to refer to the Icom in the pick up as my "dork radio". She is ex wife #2 now. |

Wow, I must be lucky. My wife, (#2) saw my interest in HAM, and asked "how do I get a license". I laughed (for a minute). This was in our first few months dating. I told her about Gordon West's book, and mentioned they sold them @ Rad Shack. I then made a bet I grew to regret, and said "OK, YOU get a license, and I will buy/install your radio". We lived 300 miles apart then, so about 6 weeks later, before she came up this way, she said "I think I'm ready for that test". I laughed (to myself this time) and found the VE location for Mike & Key. :o I sat outside the room. 10 minutes after the doors closed, she was the first one out. This was back when it was 2 tests - total of 55 questions. I thought "man she must have bombed". She saw that look on my face, 'cuz when I asked "uh, how was it" she looked down for a minute and played me for sympathy. :( Then she smiled and said "54 out of 55 right". She smoked me, I think I missed quite a few more, and with a technical background - no less. DOH! |
