Post subject:  Digital TV frequency question

Bit of a dumb question, but I'm thinking about picking up a Uniden BCD996T Digi scanner. I was looking through some reviews and saw a picture of one of these scanners that said something like "TV Broadcast Chl 20, 511.750". See picture below.

So I was wondering two items.

1. It seems as if this person has programmed the scanner to receive the audio part of the digital TV broadcast, yes?

2. Where can I get a list of what freq's are used for the all the TV stations in the Puget Sound area? (and radio too?)

Digital TV signals have the audio embedded in the main datastream - you need a digital TV tuner to extract it. The 996 won't do it; I haven't seen a scanner yet that will.

http://www.radiostation.com/kodis/ will find local stations.

Okay thanks.
That must be the analog freq for the audio broadcast I'm seeing in that picture.

The scanner company is trying to promote the fact that the unit will scan "public safety radio" stations using the UHF "T-Band". The top ten "Metro Areas" of the US all use the lower TV channels ( 14 to 20 / 470 to 512 Mhz ) for Police and Fire radio. LAPD and NYPD all use the T-Band channels. LAPD is now digital P25 in the clear.
