I have an old BC200xlt I got off of eBay.
I removed the 600mAh ni-cads and replaced them with 2500 mAh NiMH.
When being charged, both the plug-in charger and battery pack create heat, more than it used to. Not hot, but warm enough to cause alarm.
There should'nt be more resistance just from the 2500mAh batteries?
Or does the NiMH create more resistance? Creating the heat?
Other than that, what an improvment as for as battery longevity.

Did you check the charge rate ? The charge current for a NiMH battery shouldn't exceed 1/10 of its capacity (250mA for a 2500 mAH battery) otherwise the battery will start to cook. This is one place to be careful with NiMH since NiCad can handle a higher charge rate. Perhaps a current-limiting resistor might do the trick.

No, I am using the original Uniden wall charger, which is 12vdc + 500mA.
I have a adjustable charger where I can try 9vdc, and it says 300mA.

I hoping I didn't mess up soldering, I had to solder a lead back into the little circuit board inside the battry pack itself. I was using one of those 'guns' on the board. Those ones that are huge to use on a board.

Seems I remember NiMH charge differently then NiCad like you are saying, I just didn't remember the detais.

I dropped the charge from 12vdc/500 mA to 9vdc/ probably a little less mA.
Now it charges w/o the heat issue.
Sure beats trying to find/ paying what they want, a/for new battery pack for an old radio.
