So what's the Intercept message board policy on posting recorded incident audio?

I sometimes record interesting incidents and would be up for sharing, but am not sure if it's kosher here.

The board isn't set up to upload files. The most you can do is post a link to the audio. I don't see any problem with posting a link because the actual audio isn't stored on this site.

Thanks, I was planning on posting a link. Probably just going to convert audio to a flash file and throw it on Youtube unless someone really wants an mp3 file for some reason.

Any other thoughts are welcome.

OK, here's a test to see what people think. It's not a hugely exciting call -- Just trying to test the work flow:

It is a Seattle Fire Dept. response to an apartment fire this evening (Feb. 8, 2007). It is incident number F070012375 on the SFD call log:

First arriving engine reported flames visible from a three-story apartment building and there were initial reports of people still inside. No injuries, though.

23min duration. Recorded from dispatch to tap fire call. This is unedited, so there are periods of silence when there was no radio traffic.


I tried putting this on YouTube, but they reject anything over 10 minutes long. You have to click on the "free" download button on rapidshare site and wait 30 seconds for the download to begin. Anyone have any other thoughts on how best to share future recordings?

You could edit the silent/ no traffic portions using auducity software. It's free. You can edit audio files with it.

Or use the ScannerRecorder program which pauses the recording while there is silence. http://www.davee.com/scanrec/
