:D GOOD NEWS. Straight from the enforcement bureau of US Dept of H&HS. The new HIPPA Personal Medical Privacy rule does NOT apply to --- nor require "the encryption of wireless or other emergency medical radio communcations which can be intercepted by scanner". ----- This is from the enforcement bureau that enforces the HIPPA rules. |

Yeah...what a surprise! Although not requiring the organizations to encrypt for wireless security, it looks like the feds shifted the burden on to the organizations themselves. (at least according to this article at ~ http://ihealthbeat.org/index.cfm?action ... D&id=24650 ) |
