Post subject: | Spectrum restore questions for Uniden 780xlt, 785d, 796d |
I'm considering updating my mobile scanner equipment with one of the discontinued Uniden 780xlt, 785d, or 796d models because they were advertised as having continuous coverage from 25 mhz - 1.3 ghz, plus the fact that they do trunking which my old scanner doesn't. However, I've read in the manuals that the section from 512-800 mhz is blocked. Since WA state is working on a new emergency radio system around the 750 mhz range, it would be really nice to have that area available. Does anyone know if it possible to restore that part of the spectrum to any of those models? I've done several Google searches but haven't gotten much. Thanks...Bob |

Looks like your "short-cut" got "shorted out". The new 700 Mhz band will use new narrow channel spacing as well as digital. You are out of luck on this one. |

My scanner died, my Yaesu HT won't power up, the only thing I have right now is an Icom 2 meter, I'm glad Pierce is still (for now) VHF, for scanning purposes. I need a new scanner too. |

look and the Uniden BC396T or the BR330T. Both you can update them by firmware. Not sure if they will do the 700MHz band but it might be just a update away. |
