For some reason, my old BC245 scanner will act odd. Normally when monitoring a trunking system, the squelch will alwats be silent and have no control when the adjustment is made. For some reason this scanner will have problems after a transmission with the static being heard and so you need to adjust the squelch. There are times when a transmission finishes I hear lots if interference, of sorts. If I clear the entire bank of channels it behaves but for a while, then acts up again. Anyone had this problem? Maybe this scanner is on the way out. |

Brian, On any trunk-tracking scanner the squelch control should not have any function while trunk tracking. If you are hearing squelch like noises, it could be an encrypted talk group or some sort of interference on the particular voice channel you are trying to recieve at that time. When this problem occurs do you notice the radio displaying a talk group number? And what trunked system are you listening to? - Chris |

I believe your radio is normal. My 245lt did the same thing Friday night and I had to further the squlech to continue the trunking in the scan mode. |

At the end of the transmission there is just a bunch on static, sometimes meshed with what I could only term dirty static. In otherowrds, not the regular type heard. This clears up if I erase and then reprogram everything, but then comes back in a couple of weeks. |

I would like to thank Chuck44@Fidnet.com for his response to my problem from another user group on Yahoo. His reply worked great. For those that might have a simlar problem, he wrote: Try pressing the SVC button while in Trunk mode. That turns on & off the feature of hearing a squelch break at the end of each transmission. |
