Your best bet is Uniden. Go back to the web site and check for the 800 -- toll free telephone number -- and give them a call. The repair shop is located in Texas -- and they charge a flat rate per unit. About $ 50.00 plus shipping. IF -- your unit can't be repaired or it is too old and parts are no longer availible, to repair the unit, they will give you a new unit or a discount on a new radio. It takes about 45 to 60 days -- but it's worth the price.

tnx for the tips guys; uniden responded today saying they no longer repair the pc122 series and since they don't catalog a compact am/ssb unit any longer, it looks like i'm stopping at a truckers shop the next time i'm in the seattle area.
i might just call the 800 number and try a good snivel and hope for the best!

It does both CB & 10 meters although there are obvious legal issues with having both bands rolled into the same radio.

well, everything has an upside and a downside! since i'm the radio guy for my CERT, i'll be carrying an frs/gmrs for team contact, a 2meter ht to contact the emergency ops center and an am/ssb to contact boats and vehicles. probably end up with a pickup truck that looks like something from starwars!
