need a new scanner for home, but would prefer a portable, am currently using an old 10 channel radio shack. don't want to spend a bucket of bucks. recommendations?

So then you want a HT? WHAT DO YOUwant to listen to? for me a good ovefrall receiver is the ICOM R 10 THO NO TRUNKING OTHER THEN THAT THE uniden bc250D, rat shack has some good low price receivers/scanners wish I could help more!

:D :D I would say that for under $ 200.00 --- the RS PRO-97 is a good unit to look at. It's got analog trunking of all types, does CTCSS PL or DPL, and has a close signal search that locates radio signals in the area. It replaces the PRO-95 --. It can NOT receive P25 -.
