"The Washington Post reports that a Virginia woman is being held in custody by police who allege that information she posted on her blog puts members of the Jefferson area drug enforcement task force at risk. 'In a nearly year-long barrage of blog posts, she published snapshots she took in public of many or most of the task force's officers; detailed their comings and goings by following them in her car; mused about their habits and looks; hinted that she may have had a personal relationship with one of them; and, in one instance, reported that she had tipped off a local newspaper about their movements. Predictably, this annoyed law enforcement officials, who, it's fair to guess, comprised much of her readership before her arrest. But what seems to have sent them over the edge — and skewed their judgment — is Ms. Strom's decision to post the name and address of one of the officers with a street-view photo of his house. All this information was publicly available, including the photograph, which Ms. Strom gleaned from municipal records.'"

Classic.
This is what makes the scanner hobby looked frowned upon.

The only thing about monitoring is in the headline and that doesn't mean radio
monitoring. It sounds like she followed them in a car and took pictures of them :?:

Point taken..
But it's stories like this that make people say
"O' you are one of those people who like to listen to the cops".

... And the officers look like idiots..

They have ZERO privacy to ANYTHING they say on the radio unless it's encrypted.

They have ZERO privacy when they're in public, save a restroom or something of that nature.

I see a 1st amendment violation....

Or maybe not! A check of "1st Amendment" and under "Freedom of Speech" in Wikipedia states: Other limitations on free speech often balance rights to free speech and other rights, such as property rights for authors and inventors (copyright), interests in "fair" political campaigns (Campaign finance laws), protection from imminent or potential violence against particular persons (restrictions on Hate speech or fighting words), or the use of untruths to harm others (slander). I would guess that she has created that potential against these men given the nature of their job!
That's where I would believe they have her dead to rights!

Many a right have been violated in the interest of 'officer safety'.....

I could say that since I voice my opinion that I'm a target of violence, so noone can talk bad about me lest it spark violence...
