ADT home security is introducing mobile car protection. their web page http://www.adt.com/resi/products_servic ... ilesafety/
states it's using GPS. how does the car unit communicate with ADT? cell? other satalites?

it looks like they only offer one type of unit, a dash mounted radar detector style with a cigerette lighter power cord. (doesn't seem to detect door/window entry) it's got a call botton like on-star. at home users are offered real time GPS vehicle tracking.
anyone know the future of this product? OEM installs? theft recovery?

Granted I haven't read the web page more than a quick browse but it probably uses the same concept as OnStar.

After post thought: The description of services sounds just like OnStar....

I bet the Onstar patent ran out now everyone's jumpin on the wagon.

:D Tele-track is a cellular use system - that uses GPS and cellphone - which allows someone to call their own car to verify its location, if the kids are out for the night.
